MLT, a time to shift

Medical lab. technologist, a profession in paramedic where they perform lab findings to assist doctors to give proper guide to diagnose certain diseases. They considered to be the people who really understand about lab works in bio-chemistry, blood bank, bacteriology, cytology, malaria microscopy and so forth. Time has come that these people have to considered as a professional since their field can be upgraded and scholastic works to be more enhanced. MLT as a whole in Malaysia had been overshadowed by their superior like scientific officers who use their capabilities in most of their scholastic studies and academics works. MLT if not been upgraded will be a deadwood and their important role in managing laboratory will be no longer recognised and every now and then, their only will be used as a tool to promote others. Lembu punya susu, sapi punya nama. MLT or Juruteknologi Makmal need to have new faces, since their are the piooner in the lab works. Making them at this present situation will only stagnant their roles or even worse the concept of modal insan is not really been fulfilled fairly. New fresh graduates holding diploma can go for further studies and should be recognised as MLT with a degree with a different scheme same as what been treated to nurses, Medical assistant or JuruX-ray. Remember most of the trainees in MLT are those possessed excellent result during their time in secondary school. It is high time for the MLt to have their scheme as a professional like that of pegawai farmasi or pegawai pemakanan under U41 and above.
